Movie Theaters (distractions): First motion picture theater to use technology that can block both...

...cellphone calls and texts in their theater.  The technology must not block cellphone calls and texts in the theater's lobby or hallway outside of the theater.  [One of the annoyances of modern-day life is some inconsiderate jerk not turning off his cellphone before a movie, it ringing, and him talking or texting on it.  The social immaturity of such people is inexcusable.  To teenagers for whom texting is the same as breathing, they don't even think they're disturbing anyone when they do this.  But the light from the monitors alone ruins the movie-going experience for others.]  The movie theater can offer an usher service to doctors, people who are on call, and parents.  They can leave their cellphones with the theater and if they receive an emergency call, the theater will answer the call, explain the situation, and send an usher in to get the person.

Future Challenges:

1) First major movie theater chain (200 theaters or more) to incorporate the above technology at all their locations.

First motion picture union (Directors Guild of America, Screen Actor Guild - American Federation of Television & Radio Artists, Writers Guild of America, etc.) to win in their contract with:

2) A major motion picture studio that stipulates that the studio cannot show their movies at any movie theater that doesn't have and use the above technology.

3) ALL major motion picture studios that stipulates that the studios cannot show their movies at any movie theater that doesn't have and use the above technology.  [This could be one of those times when a union could help an industry do something that an inconsiderate minority of the public will hate but which the majority of the public will appreciate and it will be good for their industry.  In other words, the union willingly being the "bad guy" that the public can blame so the rest of the industry doesn't get the blame.  The studios will appreciate it as it gives them cover for forcing this upon movie theaters.  Not that the movie theaters will be complaining too much (if at all) since this union's "demand" will give them cover with their cellphone-addicted movie-goers who will hate this restriction on their cellphone usage.  The studios and movie theaters can then "blame" this union for "forcing" them to do this.

And the union can make an artist's argument for this change.  No director, actor, or screenwriter has EVER thought that cellphone usage while their film is being shown improves it.  Just the opposite.  Making this demand is to help their artform be as it was conceived and produced to be.]

Using the same above technology, first:

4) Broadway theater to install and use it.

5) Theme park to install and use it for all of their amusement rides and theater performances.

6) Home theater of a full-time professional symphony orchestra (such as the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra or Chicago Symphony Orchestra) to install and use it.

7) Private boarding school to install and use it in all their classrooms and theaters.

8) Public school to install and use it in all their classrooms and theaters.

9) Public school system to install and use it in all their classrooms and theaters.
